Music by Marina : Hi, firstly, please give me a brief introduction to yourself

Brioski : Hi, I’m Brioski, DJ producer from Milan. I started this passion with rap music, I was really fascinated by the scratch action from old school rap scene from Run DMC, Public Enemy, LL Cool J and other stuff and for that I bought my first Technics 1200  in the late nineties, I listened to rap, funk, soul etc, and after a crazy seasons in Ibiza have begun to have a passion for electronic music and more and more intrigued I began composing tracks, with my first ever sequencer, Cubase VST.

MbM :  Where come your love to italo disco? What do you listen to at home?

Brioski : Italo disco tracks were listened from my mother in my home every sundays.
She danced and did the housework with italo tracks and I danced with her. I was born in ‘82 and although I was a kid, when Italo Disco was at its top, I almost always listened it and when a few years ago I started having a passion for this genre, I went to retrieve the dusty vinyl in the home of my parents.

I have no default genre. I’m hearing a little of both. I really like going to listen to old stuff being very fond of old analog synths. The music of Giorgio Mororder, Gino Soccio, Tangerine Dreams, the stuff of Bobby Orlando I really like it, but also listen to so much modern stuff and I really enjoy cooking foods while listening to the soundtracks of Italian Crime Movies! I love this sound!

MbM : Do you think italo disco is still alive?

Brioski : The origin of this genre is the basis of modern electronic sound. I think the Italo disco is topical in different artists that uses this influence in different ways, as I see it the italo disco assume new form in the last years, upsetting the sound in a new italo disco scene.

MbM : How is the nightlife in Milan?

Brioski : There are some clubs that offer good music and  people are very receptive to all kinds. Unfortunately, those who propose good music are in the minority, then needs to look around! Many great artists from the world come to play in Milan, there are some great movements however there is still much to do to make it better

MbM : What are your projects this year?

Brioski : Now I’m finishing my album for Nang Records. It should be out in this June. It took me a while, because I did playing the old analogue machines, but all great fun! I love this technical difficulties! I’m also doing several remixes that will be released soon. I’m already thinking of a live performance with synthesizers but we’ll see …
